Mooring operations, hose connection and the operation of marine terminal support for vessel and jetty are weather dependent. The proposed Jetty is to be situated on the open sea, exposed to the complex mix of strong waves, currents, wind and tides. Even though studies have been conducted for the best design and construction of jetty alignment to minimize the impact of these forces on the stability of vessel and jetty, care must be taken to constantly monitor the weather to know when best cargo discharge can be programmed for safe operation and in compliance with international safety standard.

Working Process

WAPSCO had registered with the UK Met Office for online forecast and monitoring of weather in the area. This facility was demonstrated by UK Met Office in WAPSCO’s office Desktop for two weeks with very good result and consistent data. This facility is to be installed in Jetty Control Room and ready for startup of operation.

The tanker will be connected to the Jetty by loading arms. Operation of loading arms at the Jetty is foreseen to be manual. Unloading of products to the tank farm shall be performed by tanker pumps only. The Depot operator will select the tank to be filled and set the valves accordingly. He will then inform the berth master or the respective person in charge to notify the tanker captain that the Depot is ready to receive products. Upon positive result of products quality investigation the tanker captain will be notified to commence unloading. Before commencement of unloading operation the loading arms shall be filled with product.
