The project
To address the above issues, WAPSCO has planned to build an open sea jetty and petroleum storage depot at a strategic location on the Atlantic Ocean coast some distance from the city but on a highway connecting Lagos to the rest of the country
The company aims to provide efficient supply infrastructure to oil importers/neighbouring refiners and will operate as an independent terminal operator charging fees as per the regulated tariffs set out by the government.

Project location
The project is situated on the East Atlantic Coast of Lagos midway between two free zones planned by the government (OKLNG Free Trade Zone and the Lekki Free TradeZone)
Site selection was made on the basis of a location study and depth survey of thearea
Project status
28 hectares of land, including 600 meters of Atlantic shoreline, has been acquired
Relevant commercial and technical studies have been completed, Project Tender executed, awaiting contract award
Approvals and notices of intention have been submitted to respective regulatory bodies
Site has been cleared and deforested and is accessible all year-round
